How to Create Competition Killing Customer Loyalty by Dominating Your Niche Online
You know that the Internet is growing like crazy but how do you compete? How do you differentiate yourself from your competition? How do you create a “sticky” site so you can keep your visitors coming back on a regular basis?
The more repeat visits you get, the more you will sell. Once you turn a first time visitor into a regular visitor, you have crossed an important threshold towards online success. But how do you do this?
If you can gain their trust and capture their interest, they will feel comfortable making a purchase from you. How do you get your site to this level?
You can do all these things by implementing one key strategy:
Dominate your niche by offering the best content within your market niche
Keep your content focused on what your target customers need, want and are interested in and do not stray. You cannot compete with Yahoo, AOL or other huge companies, but what you can do is offer very focused quality content for a specific and tightly focused niche market.
Once you gain the trust of your target online customers, their pocket books will open. If they do not trust your expertise and guidance, they will be skeptical to buy from you.
Here is an example:
Let’s say that you own a retail store and you sell stationary and fine writing instruments. I am sure you have seen stores like these around the country, in shopping malls and other retail locations.
Your product line consists of various types of stationary, engraving services, high quality papers, hundreds of pens from inexpensive to fountain pens selling for several hundred dollars, desk accessories and more.
You now need a website. Not just any website however. What you need is a dynamic sales site to create a whole new revenue stream for your business.
You do some research on the Internet and discover that there are many such online catalogs/stores there already. Not to fear however, because you discover that most of them are not well done and they offer little in terms of content that would create a loyal following.
Who is your target customer? So what would your target customer want online? They are individuals who love fine writing instruments, fine desk accessories, fine paper etc. They have some money and are discriminating buyers. They are well educated.
Now you can start to develop a content strategy. You want to become “the” online source for this target customer and considering you can reach millions of people worldwide, you know that your market is out there. Our Internet marketing course will teach you how to drive traffic to your new site. This strategy will help you keep them coming back on a regular basis.
Of course you want a great catalog online, but, to beat the competition and create a sticky site, you need to create content that will cause the first time visitor to bookmark your site and frequent it.
So you create a long list of content possibilities:
-Historical information on writing instruments
-Articles about high quality paper
-How-To articles about how to choose the right pen, paper etc.
-Product specifications
-Links to manufacture website to obtain further information
-Information for collectors such as notable auction results
-Information about the art of Calligraphy
-Information about various inks
-How-to information about letter writing
-Postal information
-Some of the more famous letters in history
-Information about engraving
-Directories for collector organizations, trades organizations, trade shows, magazines, other websites that are of interest.
The list goes on and on. I hope you get the idea.
Where do you get a lot of this content? Start with the manufacturers of your product lines like Mont Blanc, Pelican fountain pens, Cross and many others. Much of this content can be aggregated. What I mean by this is that you can find a lot of it online.
Act like a treasure hunter and you will find so much potential content that you will have an endless supply. Some of it you can just post with the permission of the author or the manufacturer. Some you can write yourself based on the results of your online research or get your team members to do it.
By creating a very interesting and informative site that your target market will love is the key to beating your competition online. Remember, people use the Internet to search for information first, then they will consider making a purchase.
Give them what they want! How is that for a sophisticated business strategy?
Establish yourself as an industry authority!
This content strategy will get you noticed and talked about within your target market. Great word- of-mouth is not only important in the retail business but online as well.
Once you establish and execute this key content strategy, the marketing techniques we teach you in our Internet marketing course will have an even greater impact because people will be much more motivated to link to you.
Don’t just create an online catalog; create an online destination for your niche market. Do not be overwhelmed, you can add a little each month and build it up as you grow.
So here is your Content Strategy Action List:
Create a long list of potential content. Brainstorm this list like crazy. Have fun with it.
Create a form letter to use in E-mail messages that you can send to every manufacturer of every product you carry. Ask them to send you links or E-mail you content that you can use on your site. Remind them that this content will help you sell their product. Most of them will cooperate with you if you approach them in this positive and enthusiastic way.
Create a simple and logical navigation plan for your content. See more about this in our Internet marketing course.
Ask your customers, both offline and online, what content they would like to see. Encourage their participation and seek their opinions. An easy way to do this is to survey them by E-mail, offering something for free if they respond, like a coupon.
Once you start placing this great content on your website, you can ask a myriad of companies to link to you as you have now become an industry source for quality information.
The key is focus and quality. So now you know how-to: Create Competition Killing Customer Loyalty by Dominating Your Niche Online
