How To Wear A Belt
By Amelie Giradine, 10 Jun 04:49
An end to belt selecting woes.
Belts are to be shown, if possible. Why always use them only for their utilitarian means?
1. Look at a mirror; observe from your torso-up. Pinpoint the smallest area, for some it might be her high waist, some the mid waist, and rarely it’s the low waist.
2. Select a belt, if you have a:
A. Long torso-almost any belt will do, but really thin ones will make it look longer
B. Typical torso-not too thin or too thick belts will do, if you are rather flat then probably any belt will do especially if you pair it with a long top or dress
C. Short torso-on rare cases medium belts go well, best stay on the thin belts
3. Be frank with your torso:
A. Are you flat? Follow the shape of your torso
B. Are you a little curvy or fit? Leave some allowance, but enough to still keep it fit on the right area
C. Do you have a muffin top or belly? Then you must not tighten the belt too much, it will not look good if the belt constricts your body unless your top can hide the layer of fat, sometimes a draped or ruched top helps, so long as it doesn't fit the torso. Or a loose Bohemian top will do.
4. Know what material your top or dress is and know the material of your belt, observe the reaction when you put it on the certain places and see what happens if you sit down, if it tightens, loosen the belt a bit—never leave it too loose. Don’t “suck-in” it never works.
Things you might need
A mirror. The right belt with the right top.
